TOLL BROTHERS TEAM SUPPORTS ALZHEIMER’S ASSOCIATION MEMORY WALK EVENT
ORLANDO, Fla. (Nov. 9, 2009) – The Central Florida Division of Toll Brothers, the nation’s leading builder of luxury homes, recently stepped up to fight Alzheimer’s disease during the Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk event at Lake Eola Park. The team of seven Toll Brothers employees walked three miles and raised more than $900 for the association, which is the leading voluntary health organization for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.
“This was an outstanding way for our team to come together and support an important cause that affects so many people,” said Toll Brothers Central Florida Division President Ken Thirtyacre. “We were proud to be part of this event and I encourage others to become involved.”
Most of the Toll Brothers team members who participated in the Memory Walk have a family member or loved one who was diagnosed with disease, and appreciate the importance of supporting the Alzheimer’s Association and its efforts to find a cure. Toll Brothers Sales Trainer Christina Skloff was inspired to participate because of her mother, who was only 56 when she was diagnosed with early onset of Alzheimer’s disease in 1986. Following her diagnosis, Skloff’s mother enthusiastically supported scientific research efforts, which have been recognized by the University of Pittsburgh.
“The Memory Walk is so special because my mother has been such an inspiration to me and to so many others,” Skloff said. “It is critically important to support Alzheimer’s disease research efforts to help scientists gain a greater understanding and find a cure for this devastating disease.”
The Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for the association and its mission to end the disease. Walks are held at nearly 600 locations nationwide. Since 1989, Memory Walk has raised more than $260 million for the cause.
